HSQ’s activities are geared towards offering practical support and services to non-religious people. We aim to educate and inform the public about Humanism and the need for a separation of religion and state in Australia.

We seek to build a more secular and ethical society, with equal rights for all, without special privileges afforded to any specific group. In particular, we are concerned with issues where religious views obstruct the right of the individual to self determination, for example, in reproduction rights and voluntary euthanasia.

We believe that religious viewpoints have a disproportionate influence on Australia’s public policy. Policies such as the government funding of chaplains clearly shows this influence is strongly entrenched in our society and economic policy. Our aim is to turn the tide, to campaign for a society free of religious privilege and discrimination.

We put our Humanist philosophy into action by raising funds and making donations to secular, non-government organisations who work to alleviate poverty, ignorance, suffering and injustice.

You can help us achieve our aims or help us help others by becoming a member or making a donation today.
